Sinister: colossal youth is showing the way to go

YOUNG MARBLE GIANTS:
I beseech everyone on this list to find a copy of their one album, _Colossal 
Youth_.  Crepescule released it on CD; it's fairly easily found.  Extremely 
minimal postpunk: just a choppy guitar, melodic bass and Alison Statton's 
indescribably pure, sweet vocals.  The whole album feels submerged in a 
slightly spooky darkness.  I don't quite see early Cure or Joy Division 
comparisons, but they are all from the same era.  Speaking of which, Rykodisc 
has just released the Gist's Embrace The Herd on CD; they were Stuart 
Moxham's band/project immediately after YMG split up.  It's an album of 
melodic experiments that actually sounds more timely today than upon its 
release.  Um, I could go on about this for hours.  If anyone is interested in

Please contribute to the message board; it's pretty much dominated by the 
same 4 people these days and needs some new blood.  How to tie this into 
Belle & Sebastian...gosh, I can't, really.  YMG and B&S are two of my very 
favorite bands; does that count?
