Sinister: life is a state of mind

Hello schweetharts,

ah, tomorrow the moon will be so close to the earth we
may be able to touch it - but don't try, because i
heard that some guy tried to the last time the moon
was this close (150 yrs ago) and he fell off the
earth. Silly man, but we know better, we understand
physics and the optical illusion. Do not let this stop
you from howling, wild things. Or at least staring in
awe. overwhelming really when the moon seems to fill
the sky. Space becomes less abstract; I feel very much
on top on the earth, a physical thing in the universe.
And then I start thinking about this and it's back to
the mental universe for me... oh well. moments of
clarity are wonderful things.

I watched "Being There" on the weekend. It's a lovely
movie, a good Sunday morning movie. oh, i cried, of
course i did. like the plastic bag scene in american
beauty, it's so amazing when the beautiful just leaps
out in front of us, dazzling, and you get that warm
chest feeling like all is right in the world (though
you still know that so much is wrong, but it's okay
for a few minutes.) it's bloody beautiful.

mmmm. (I have to pause for a while and gather my
emotions again as they've been spilled by beautiful
things. hm, well, i don't know if that worked. but it
was nice.)

christmas has started to get to me. i'm all smiles and
good cheer lately. Also, my little brother has
declared his love for b&s. Story is: he bought me IYFS
for Christmas, but my other brother told him I already
had it ("she's got, like, six belle and sebastian
cds.") But, instead of returning it, he opened it and
listened to it and *couldn't stop listening to it*.
Whoo! said I into the phone when he told me in true
b&s new-fan style, "I'd return it, but then I wouldn't
have it, and I don't think I can do that." So I bought
him Tigermilk for Christmas. Mwah ha ha!

And hey, was it my imagination or did Steve Kado
publicly declare a list crush on me a few days ago?
And was I not blushing upon reading this? Oh, I was.
And I was also thinking about how a while ago he
declared the new cool as writing in magic marker on
your t-shirts. I think this is damn straight spiff. He
also noted that he went drinking last Thursday night
and suffered a two-day hangover. I too went drinking
on Thursday night and suffered a very long one-day
hangover. Coincidence? Or just Canadian? Or was
everyone drinking Thursday night? I have a feeling you
were... Anyway, Steve, if I'm the bee's knees, then
you're the cat's pajamas. Just thought I'd share that
with y'all. (cat's pajamas being a good thing - idioms
can be so confusing, even in yr own language...)

Okay. This was supposed to be a Merry Christmas, Happy
Holidays, Happy New Year, Joy to the World and Peace
on Earth email. And it is because I wish all of the
above on all you sinister individuals (even those who
have unsubbed for a short while.) And be thankful that
my battery is going low (on the computer, not on me),
so I must stop writing.

Ah, but one more thing: I have joined the ranks of the
glasses-wearing. Now that I can see clearly outside of
two feet around me, perhaps my world view and ideas
about reality will change. ha. (but they *are* nice
glasses, I have to say.) Must go now and read all the
far away signs that I can see. Like signs of the
apocalypse. No, still a bit blurry... nothing to fear
here. I do see shortbeard and butter tarts though,
yum.

love Robyn
