Sinister: It Takes Puffs to Be Gentle and Kind

I'm not going to say thank you to Honey. I think he does a terrible
job. I'm all in favour of having advertisements at the end of every
message. It would double the likelihood of finding anything
interesting in them. Just look at this description of a humble place
of worship, taken from a well-known ecclesiastical guidebook:

"HONEYCHURCH
St Mary *
Norman farmers' chapel

The sign on the door says simply, "This door is never locked". It
should be the motto of the Church of England...The nave is filled with
seats so worm-eaten that the rear ones would wear holes in all but the
stoutest flannel. By the door is a small poor-box. The pulpit is
primitive, as are the floorbords that substitute for flagstones or
tiles...The only cuiosity in what passes for the chancel are some
medieval cooking pots. These are stored, for some reason, under a
table next to the altar. Pevsner suggests that these may have been
acoustic pots, to be set in the walls of chancels allegedly to enhance
the sound of singing."

No further comment is required.

I promise to reply to my e-chums tomorrow. Mike and Pam, tape tree
chipmonks, sorry I didn't managed to send the tapes before last week's
jingle jangle joyola. They might have turned it into a filthy
festering funkathon. Glad to hear Hopkins hasn't changed during his
absence.

Peter
