Sinister: Lo-fi?

hey sinisterines,
	Just a quick question: what is Lo-fi music?  I've heard a few of my fave 
bands/artists referred to as lo-fi, but I don't know what it means.  I 
know, I know, I'm so un-hip.  Thanks in advance for your answers.
