Sinister: isn't it impressive

belle and sebastian aren't the only ones having a busy week.  between
adopting a furby and catching up on classes and getting over an illness
i've had nary a moment to make my own little comment on belle and
sebastian's winning the brit award.  first off, i just think it's fucking
impressive that within three years a band can go from relative obscurity to
national celebrity almost entirely based on the quality of their output.  i
mean, no offense to jeepster, but as an indie they lack the money and
marketing clout of a major label, and the band have done little with the
press to make themselves known, so their acclaim comes entirely from the
quality of their music.  to reach this point within three years is a minor
miracle, to do so and remain true to what they've said they wanted to be is
amazing.  i'm sure it sounds silly, but wow.  congratulations.
