Did I say The Delgados were folk as fuck? Silly me, I meant Del
Amitri. Did I say I was reading Greil Marcus? I'd forget my head if it
wasn't screwed on! I meant Malcolm Muggeridge.

No I haven't heard "Domestiques", but I'm sure it's absolutely
smashing. Of course Greil Marcus talks bollocks most of the time,
that's why he's an established rock critic. He does go on about
dadaism a bit here, but I think it's "Lipstick Traces" where he really
goes to town. I haven't read it, but I've got the album - ba ba bab ba
ba ba bab eeeeeeeeeee oooooooo bo bo bo - it goes, but it does have
some top tunes as well, and you can programme out the dadaism. Anyway,
I've stopped reading the book now, following Warrander John's Sid Snot
outburst. I haven't been so put out of joint since I was accused of
living in Neorockland and having boring packaging ideas.

Speaking of established rock critics, I'm no Stax expert, but what I
have heard is quite wide-ranging, and not very formulaic at all, from
gentle gospel to smutty funkathons and rumpy-pumpy blues howlers.
Perhaps all this diversification came about when they released 27
albums on the same day, but at any rate, it's not all Otis Redding and
Booker T and the MGs. Not that I've got anything against formula,
mind.

I had a fantastic dream starring the Duke himself. A new Felt
retrospective had been released, called "Feltrospective" and Duke was
on the radio talking about it. Hmmm.

B&S content: A while back there was talk of a Peel session, has
anything happened? I think that number three slot in the festive fifty
is the finest hour in the short career of B&S so far, quite an honour.
I do hope B&S get back to old habits soon though, making eight
instruments sound like two instruments played inside a cavernous bread
bin with a bit of trumpet on top.
