Having lurked in the shadows for a long while (credentials: ICA Tindersticks
suppt - thurs night - fabbo, esp Stevie's sis's harmoica assistance, Manc Town
Hall - Sunday Night -"some Orange Juice isn't bad, but I don't like the
people at all" -and Sheps Bush Empire - clap clap clap clap clap clap yay!), I
have been inspired to subscribe by the recent, and very heartening, boost in
quality posts.

Having (a) watched the list return to something approaching its inspired peak
of lunatic bollocks rambling nonsense (just as we like it); and (b) read
Duke's dookie pookie fookie book (which is available at Helter Skelterrr), am
feeling a bit left out.

What can I say; I saw Edwin Collins, panning for gold at Legoland - this is
the truth!!!. I sidled up to him and, although indisctinct, I swear i heard
him mumble "I wore my fringe like Roger McGuinn's, I wore it hoping to
impress, so frightfully camp, it made you laugh, tomorrow i'll buy myself a
dress", or something like that. My two year old nephew, who was with me at the
time, flipped a handstand, gazed at Edwin, and sang a note perfect rendition
of Simply Thrilled Honey, or something which sounded remarkably similar.

What else? - there used to be quite a bit of chat about film, particularly
french -on this list. Well I have two things to say to you film boofes -
(i) I went tonight for the first time to the Lux cinema in the city of London
to see Jean Paul Belmondo and Jean Seberg (Isobel's mum) in Breathless. The
whole experience was jolly nice indeed and highly recommended - they let you
buy beer from the trendy bar next door and consume it in the cinema;
(ii) The book, "Easy Riders Raging Bulls" by Peter Biskind -
woowoowoopdedoo, its good, even if, so far at least, the only fella who
comes out with a shred of dignity is good ole Marty Scorcese. You gotta
trust those short guys.

Well thats enough of me for the time being (other than to say Phil Ochs "Jim
Dean of Indiana", Gene Clark "Flying High", Gal Costa - first album, and Miles
Davis - "Bitches Brew - remastered" (and whilst we aren't on the topic of
music books, has anyone else read his autobiog, m*****f***er?)) - also, has
anyone seen that video of boymanbeckboy singing loserboy in Lisbon with
mariachibandbackinghim? - whoo or what?.

Keep the paste
