Sinister: "Me and the Major" and "If You're Feeling Sinister": Lyrics expla ined?

Hi....

Can someone tell me - being a politics student, I couldn't help reading a
rant against a former PM into "Me and the Major" (seeing as someone printed
a lyric on the end of a sinister-digest special, that reminded me of a
question I'd always wanted to ask) - is this right? Or is it just my
overactive imagination wanting to read politics into songs? Also "If You're
Feeling Sinister" has to be on my favourite songs of 1998 in a similar sort
of context (not being published in 98, but by being "topical" to my own
life) in that I am having trouble reconciling my own Christianity (that
borders on the sacreligious, but I don't think God is such a jealous bastard
as some make him out to be) with the christianity of some of the Christian
Union.... and my friend within is called Hillary... scary, isn't it? No it's
not, she's really sweet and I'd expect her to be, she is a christian after
all, but I get scared by the whole thought of the evangelical movement and I
can see why people become atheists!!!!

Ciao, once again!
