(Was titled Happiness Stan, but I think there
has been a block on Stans for awhile. Or a thousand
apologies if your getting this twice.)

Hi

I better get this all out before the spirit leaves me
yet again and I let another week slip by without sending
out any words of any sort. There's been a few things
that I've meant to respond to so, here it goes...

Let me see, to start....

St. Etienne
The best thing about the show in NYC was the lack of
beats and the back up singers.

JAMRS (hey that's almost JAMMS, wasn't that a group of
some sort?)
Wonderful, beautiful, and only a month and a half old. Almost
two months. Best moments so far have been waking up after
a short evening nap to hear its beautiful melody wafting
through the air and hearing it on repeat as we drove
through the Pennsylvania countryside cautiously drinking
our Newcastles. (and yes we were merely passengers on
this particular journey, and we weren't going very far
actually, just down to the pub, I guess I should say bar, but
it did feel somewhat like a pub; ale, darts, a fire, etc.)

The Pastels
Might as well start at the beginning, or almost the beginning
and get Suck On. Its still available in all its two versions of Baby
Honey glory.

Tshirts
The boy/girl cartoon one is the only one that works. Why do you
think those were the ones stolen in Manchester? They were
looking to score with the sensitive boy/girl set.

The Stans
Sorry Tag, your wrong just like you were wrong about Daft
Punk. And Keith, your wrong just like you were wrong about....
erm, I can't think of a time when you have ever been wrong.
That's kind of frightening.

No, not very funny, not very funny at all. 'Sensitive' was kinda
cute in vague sort of way. And it would have been a little
funnier about five-ten years ago, but certainly we've gotten
past this whole sensitive, not sensitive, anorak, not anorak
and actually I'm really HARD so SCREW you! attitude. But
buy the end, especially how it ended with all sorts of cheap
shot meanness directed at one Mr. McMick (someone who
I haven't heard say a mean word about anyone, except maybe
Lord Anthony, and that was just a average word) and his
lovely pal Megan, it all sort went sour. Worst of all, these kind
of posts remind me of the Indie-Pop list, the later years.
Very sad.

Actually the only part that was actually truly laugh out loud funny,
was a reply by one of the Jessica's, though it might not have
been a Jessica. The one about boys who think going out on a
date means going record shopping, etc. That was funny, true to
life, clever way to poke fun at the whole sensitive boy issue. Its
something that will stick in my head, and didn't take cheap
shots at other peoples expense. The other stuff was just lazy
humor.

And just how we will not tolerate lazy comparisons to
Nick Drake, or lazy POP music in general, we should not
tolerate lazy humor.

End of lecture. Sorry about that, I usually don't get involved in
these sorts of squabbles, and I went a bit over the top there
at the end. Honey, feel free to write me to say I'm out of line.
You see, I'm feeling somewhat fired up, having just received
a book by the Duke. That's fired up in a good, positive way.

bye
sorry about the length, blah blah blah.

Carrick

ps Soon to follow, hopefully. A story about B&S, a 16 year old
girl, and THE WHO.

pps and, by the way, what every happened to Jon G and his
sister? They disappeared around the time of the UK gigs the
best I can remember.
