I must concur with Mick that the "Tony/Linda" Blair Witch project looks scary
as all get up. They've been showing alot of clips from the movie on the
Sci-Fi channel and whatnot and even they almost made me get a change of
trousers. I haven't been that frightened since...well...Darth Maul a few
weeks ago (but he was scary dammit!). I live in Maryland, about an hour and
a half away from where all that stuff went down but I likewise will stay as
far away from there as humanly possible. I heard there's a contest in
Rolling Stone where the winner gets to take 50 of their friends to a midnight
showing of the film on a screen set up right next to the cabin where the
footage was found. As Nickie said "I will say nothing" except that if this
doesn't sound like a recipe for casualties I don't know what does.
To clue some people in: In 1994 three students from the University of
Maryland went on an expedition to Burkitsville, MD to film a documentary
about the legend of a witch who haunted the woods. It seems that ever since
the 1780s (and even up to the 1940s) people have been turning up totally
disembowled and have been getting offed out of the blue. The students
arrived, interviewed some people, shot some film, then rented a cabin in the
woods to rest for the night before beginning again the next day. They were
never heard from again. A few months later some investigators found their
film buried under the floor of the cabin and eventually it was turned into
the movie "The Blair Witch Project," which hits US theatres tommorrow.
Supposedly the MPAA is trying to get the film banned because even though
theres no blood or gore in the movie, and as far as I know no deaths are
filmed, people are still leaving theatres in a state of severe shock or
something. Yawn.
Anyway...how have the Looper shows been out West? The DC show is in one week
exactly so the capital of this fair nation has been abuzz with a love of
cheezy synths and rotating sculptures...yeah right. Later
