Sinister: More musings on life in the slow lane

Well I can't think of any songs with my name in, but Mrs Murdoch (formerly
of this parish) did name her son after me...

So did anyone actually go to this picnic yesterday then? I haven't seen any
reports yet... I was going to go, but I decided I'm too poor. I'm also now
officially unemployed, I got my P45 this morning. Although it didn't stop me
going to a gig the other night, by a wonderful band called 'The Frames'.
They sound a bit like Superstar at times, and at other times like anything
from Mercury Rev to Nirvana. And they're almost completely indescribable,
which has got to be a good thing, right? Out of the 40-or-so people who'd
paid to see them, at least a quarter were queueing up at the end to buy a CD
off the singer. Despite the fact that their drummer hadn't made it to the
gig, so their driver played instead (remarkably well as it happened). Check
them out... (I think they're playing London next week sometime).

One other thing that's been bugging me. In our local friendly supermarket,
they have brand spanking new electronic tills. And when one of them is not
in use, a message scrolls accross from one side to the other: 'Goodbye hope
to see you again'. All very welcoming, I'm sure you'll agree. Except that
whenever I'm feeling a bit miserable and lonely (eg a couple of hours after
being dumped not that long ago), all I see when I look up is 3 or 4 tills
bearing the message 'Goodbye hope'...

Big Stu
(Shocked by the amount of money he's having to pay for an Australian
visa...)
