Sinister: Pooch!

Nick posted the bit from Rip Van Winkle:
I went to the library yesterday to finally look for the book as I have always been charmed by that "not to be daunted by the most gigantic word in the dictionary"-line, only to find that the only version they had was this "learn English using a vocabulary of 500 words"-version, so when I finally found the passage from I Could Be Dreaming they had reduced it to about 4 lines and taken away the entire dictionary-bit! I was so bummed I didn't borrow it (although the accompanying cassette with a normal/slow reading alternative seemed intriguing), but at least I finally got to see the the spelling of Derrick Van Brummel. And I'm not even sure I even remember it properly anymore. It is sort of like the lyrics for TBWTAS, I don't know how many times I had to look up "lascivious" before it stuck. "Lysten" if any Swedes are wondering, but I am sure everybody else was clever enough to know it without ever having to look it up.

And whilst I am on the subject of the English language, if anybody's wondering why so many foreigners like the language, I think I have found the answer in three words. I was reading the B&S article in Record Collector when I came across the bit "eponymous vehicular pooch". You guys!!! :) I am sure this somehow magically translates into Dog On Wheels, but I am afraid consulting a dictionary might somehow spoil the magic. Now, in what other language would anyone ever think of saying eponymous vehicular pooch??? If a boy had said it to me I am sure my heart would have melted instantly.

Oh, and a B&S question (!) - I got an ad-thing from a pretty crappy Swedish magazine called SA the other day (although they once had a B&S interview) and if you start subscribing you'll get a Tigermilk-promo single, not available anywhere else in Sweden (cheap trick!). I was wondering if anybody knows what songs are on it? Not that I'm planning to get it, since the magazine is crap, and quite frankly I am broke, but nevertheless.
