Sinister: Girls and Boys together

(once upon a time)
So I was a bit nervous about showing up for the San
Francisco picnic-in-a-bar because I'd heard from other
Sinisterines that the attendance record in the past
was less than purrr-fect. Mainly, no people showing up
at all. But, in my curiousity to meet some of these
people I decided to chance it.

Just my luck, I was the first one there and since we
hadn't given very good descriptions (except Tara, who
was very explicit) I was stuck standing by the wall in
a very crowded bar,looking around for other
lost-looking people who arrived by themselves.

I went up to one girl and said, lamely, 'Are you
looking for people you know? Or people you don't
know?'
She was very nice about it, but I must have looked
like an ass. After that experience, I just smiled
brightly at anyone solo coming in, and the
bouncer/check ID guy must have thought I was picking
up tricks or something.

After what seemed like hours (and was probably twenty
minutes) I got a smile which answered my own from a
girl who interestingly enough, I had always thought
was male (from her posts, not her looks of course).

And then suddenly, more people came out of the
woodwork, and it became what I hoped it would be--
interesting people talking about Belle and Sebastian,
music, bowlie, and even at one point, thanks to Youn,
linguistics.

So the rest of you Bay Area kids, try to come to the
next meeting (probably before Looper, I'd imagine) we
really won't bite!
