Sinister: I'm quite happy drinking Yukon Jack...

I was spacing out in front of the telly just the other day and a commercial
for the ESPN Xgames came on with the first song from the Looper record
playing (forgive me for not knowing the name...the one with the little girls
joyously bouncing off the walls and whatnot). I thought it a bit odd at
first, being that the Xgames is an annual quasi-Olympics for "extreme sports"
like rollerblading, street luge, skateboarding, skydiving etc., but in the
end it didn't seem so crazy for some reason. I still can't see the head
honchos of ESPN sitting around a big, huge meeting table and as one of them
gets up to spin the Looper disc, the others immediately jump to their feet
shouting "That's it! Thats the Xgames!" Maybe its just me. Odd that Looper
has already apparently superceded B&S in terms of popularity over here...
I applied recently to a local record store in my weak attempt to become a
member of the working class for the summer. Mind you this isn't an extremely
hip record store (its on the borderline; they carry TBTWAS and Up A Tree but
there computer shows no evidence of Felt's existance at all) but its a nice
place I suppose, though a bit pricey. They seem pretty nice and all, and I
had a few friends who work there put in a good word for me, but I'm a bit
leery as to whether its a smart move to make music my business rather than my
love. Maybe its being a bit to paranoid but I'm afraid that dealing with
music and CDs as my sole source of income day in and day out will somehow
strip it of its magic and innocence and as a result I will turn on my one
true love (very dramatically) and instantly tranform myself into a CPA or
something. Can anyone who has any andecdotes or knowledge of this area let
me know what I'm for if I get the job? I'd appreciate any and all help
because its between this and bagging for old women in the local supermarket
and I need to reach a decision soon before I'm screwed out of both of them.
Well I'm off to bed
Steve C.
