..Because I can't stop buying records. I think I've bought about 30 in the
past few weeks. Granted, I was in New York City and I have a friend visiting
who's record-crazy, so I've been shopping more than normal, but I'm starting
to feel over-accumulating. I was driving home this evening, free-form self
pity taking hold, and I thought, well, I could stop at Tower and see if they
have the Go-Betweens best of on cassette (most beloved format, I'm sad at
your slow decline), and that would make me feel better. Then I thought, what
the fuck, that's five minutes of walking into the record store, seizing the
purchase, paying for it, feeling some anticipation before fucking off back
home, everything same as before. I always get some tiny thrill out of filing
away a new purchase, then surveying my entire collection, now a mite bigger.
I dunno. I've been fairly anti-religion, because I just think it's a crutch
for weak people who can't find faith in themselves, but sometimes my rancor
feels hypocritical as I'm also trying to fill a void or big question mark in
my head with the meaning I get from books, music, movies, etc, while others
use Jesus or whomever. Granted, no one has yet started a Holy War to force,
say, Belle and Sebastian on the heathens. Um ,enough. Would someone please
change my diaper?
