Sinister: Drowning in Berlin

Dear gypsies, tramps and thieves...

Both PJ and Mr Lucey of Berkeley said encouraging things about Bill
Evans; may I add to the clamour and suggest folks seek out "Trio 64"
? Recently lovingly remastered and reissued on Verve in one of those
lovely fold-out digipak-with-booklet things. In common with many
reissues of this type, there's a lot of useless junk on the end like
11-second false starts and alternate takes which, if we were talking
about "Smokey and the Bandit", would be the best bit. (Jackie
Gleason fluffing his lines and so on, played over the closing credits
as a special treat for those cinema-goers who like to stay and see
just who *was* the 2nd unit gaffer.) But we're not. Well, *I'm* not
- you may have been. Just don't do it again.

Kevan Cooke hurled his assailant into a shelf full of crockery before
uttering the following poorly-dubbed words:

> you see, GOLDEN NUGGETS were my favourite breakfast
> cereal as a child
> anyway,
> i'll be having a bowl tonight.

On the first bus out of town ? Ha ha.

Oh, and Deep Luv to KC for playing not only Free Design but also The
Left Banke at Friday's shindig. I was so happy I could've kissed
strangers. Which, come to think of it, I probably did. Sorry,
strangers.

Robert McTaggart, his superpowers waning, clung desperately to the
cliff face and forced out the following plea:

> I've just finished a fascinating report
> on the effect of opening Canada Water Underground Station

Is it too much to expect this to provoke a lengthy thread on the
Jubilee Line extension ? It's got to be better than talking about
the Jetsons the whole time. I'm particularly anxious to see how the
various interchanges are depicted on the revised map - an extra
black-rimmed circle at Waterloo or an adjustment to accommodate the
silver line within the current cluster of rings ? None of you have a
bleedin' clue what I'm talking about, do you ? Honestly, first you
start nattering on about Burt Reynolds and now you're pretending not
to be interested in the biggest single addition to London's Tube
network in 25 years. I'll have your medication stopped and then
you'll be sorry.

I've been under a lot of pressure lately, y'know...

Mike.
