dear everyone on this biscuit nibbling, cardie wearing list...

philippe is very sweet...trust me, he made me smile when i thought that i 
would never smile again...and i do not like that this has been brought about 
to the list because it seems more like tattling than a plea for philippe to 
read or for someone else to make an offer for those sessions on tape...a 
better way of going about writing to the list about this would have been:
a) making sure that the letter had not been so long...
b) making sure that it was not so overdramatic...
it seems too based on getting everyone else's sympathy and that makes me 
sad...this is the sinister mailing list...home of jelly-filled happy tummies 
and kittens playing in giant piles of leaves...

meganelise (whom is already feeling bad about this response but feels the 
need to say something as she cares very much about philippe and wants 
everyone to know that he is NOT a bad person in even the slightest of 
ways...i'm sorry...)

 For once (and hopefully this will be the final time) this posting is not as 
 light-hearted and frothy as most of my previous postings. As I am writing to 
 tell of how my trust has been betrayed
 by a fellow Sinisterine no less, 
 Philippe Garnier. Yes 'our' very own witty Frenchman with whom I was 
 supposed to conduct a trade with in October last year. Only, that I actually 
 sent MY STUFF (about two tapes worth) to him and never got anything in 
 return. And it's been, count it, about six months folks. I know I know (and 
 I'm addressing this to you Philippe too) that he had to go leave France for 
 America for work and all that but I don't think that gives anyone the right 
 to ignore someone else like that. I mean we all have other priorities other 
 than music, but taping three C90's worth of music is not going to take up 
 too much of anyone's time.  I don't know if I should be writing this sort of 
 stuff to the list, but I just don't know who else to turn to. I love being 
 on this list a lot, and implicitly trust the people on it. When I went to 
 London, so many fantastic, beautiful people pitched in, telling me the best 
 places to shop and offering to meet me and all that. So I presumed that 
 everyone on this list would be like that. And at the beginning, Philippe 
 seemed like that too. When I first joined the list, I remember that Philippe 
 was the one who so generously taped the Black Sessions and distributed it to 
 a person in each continent so that they could dub for other listees in that 
 particular continent. Which I thought was a particularly nice thing to do. 
 So I really don't know what to make of him and the situation now. In the 
 past few months I have written more than six emails to him, all unanswered, 
 and yet he still finds time to write to the list. So to me it seems like he 
 is ignoring me. Now, I will be forever deprived of a copy of the B&S Black 
 Sessions (yes this was around the time of all the talk of their Black 
 Sessions, that's how long ago it all was), as well as the Tindersticks, 
 Divine Comedy and Nick Cave black sessions too. Oh woe is me! I missed out 
 on so many trades, in the mistaken and misguided belief that Philippe would 
 honour our agreement.
 My first instinct is always to be kind and generous and give people the 
 benefit of the doubt but there is always a limit. I have conducted so many 
 successful trades already so I had no reason to not trust Philippe.
 Philippe, if you're out there, I still believe in the goodness of mankind 
 and in particular, of this special list full of very special people. So 
 please please please, do NOT ignore me (a very unfair and cruel thing to do) 
 and write back, and above all, HONOUR OUR AGREEMENT!!!:)
 Well for the time being, I hope I haven't broken any rules of the list and 
 hope my fears will be allayed as soon as possible
