Sinister: DJ BlueSmoke and DJ Travelcard in Lo-Fi All-Dayer Fiasco.....

Yes, folks, I just *had* to mail you. DJ BlueSmoke and DJ Travelcard
(me and my mate Staff) are set to make our predictably
less-than-triumphant return to the regional disc-spinning scene at
some Leo (Leo Sayer = All Dayer) that Staff's organizing in September.
As well as being a rather shameless plug for this motley affair,
(anyone who is within spitting distance of Colchester in September
would be well advised to turn off their television sets and come out
and do something less boring instead), this mail is also a plea for
help. So far, the only thing that's not been sorted is a name for the
whole shebang. So, if anyone can come up with any half-decent names
for a Lo-Fi/Art-Rock/Lurchcore all dayer, please let me know. The best
I've come up with so far is "Dave". Ah well.

Meanwhile, back at the ranch......

Interesting to find out that the band themselves aren't too keen on
either "Sinister" or "Strap", if indeed it's true. I can never
understand artists denigrating their own work. I mean, there's no real
reason to be big-headed about any of it and turn into your
common-or-garden we-are-the-greatest, no-one-can-touch-us,
head-up-our-own-collective-arse Gallagher brother, but I can't see a
reason for them to slag off their own stuff, either. Topical, this is,
too, after the Beta Band have been reported as saying that their new
album is the "worst of the year so far". Or something. Not exactly the
least strange thing on earth, no way mama. I wonder if the bands own
feelings on the songs mirror the recent train of "too much of a good
thing gets boring" thought on the list. I suppose it's a possibility.
I think it was probably summed up best by Jesse (Ethan Hawke) in
"Before Sunrise":

"If we actually did go out together, you'd start to get annoyed by
some of my habits. For instance, when we had people round I'd be
insecure and get a little too drunk and tell them the same boring
stories again, and again, and again. Well, I've heard all those
stories before, so is it any wonder I hate myself?"

How very true. By the way, that quote is somewhat paraphrased since my
limited memory can't actually cope with sentences of longer than one
line, so please don't mail me telling me how wrong I got it. Well, you
can if you want, but I'll just delete it. So there.
Ner-ner-ne-ner-ner.

Anyhow, all help with the naming of aforementioned live event
gratefully recieved.

Nanoo nanoo,

lol p xx.
