Hello,
I seem to have deleted the message I had intended on replying to. Drat.
Uh, well it's a few days old, and the person in question had posted
about how he thought that the Dog on Wheels EP reminded him of Love.
I wanted to report that I had similar thoughts about the title track
sounding like Love, although not the whole thing. Also, it should be
pointed out that "Expectations," from Tigermilk sounds quite a lot like
Love as well.
Nothing against Stevie, but sometimes I wonder how the band would sound
if the fellow from the Dog on Wheels session played guitar in the band
now instead of Stevie. Other times I wonder what the band might sound
like if Maurice Deebank played guitar, and those are probably the most
pleasant imaginings of the band I have. I have also wondered what the
band would sound like if they roughed up Stevie until he relented and
always played like he does on "A Century of Fakers." That's quite nice
as well.
Not to say I don't like B&S as they are now, it's just that...
sometimes I wonder what they would sound like if Stevie didn't play like
Steve Cropper nearly all of the time.
By the way, I don't think I posted anything about the Nick Drake
tribute I mentioned in an earlier post. It was quite pleasant, and we
got to see two fo the people who'll be singing on the next Magnetic
Fields album. Didn't find out that they would be doing those vocals
until after the show, but we liked them all the same.
Yeah, I don't really have any interesting anecdotes for the day...but
maybe it's better that way ;)
