Sinister: Jeepster

Jeepster have sent me a detailed reply to the points that have been
made on this list about them setting up their own discussion list,
and it's only fair for me to say that I've been holding it up because
of concern for how some minor things they say publically in their
response might cause problems for individuals on this list elsewhere,
and might threaten my own ability to keep Sinister going.  I'm being
extra cautious, and I just want to say that the delay is mine, not
theirs - I'm waiting for a second response from them now, and I can
assure you all that I want them to have their say, and none of the
things I've commented on to them affect what they're trying to say in
my opinion.  Which doesn't mean I agree with it :)

But let's be clear, because individuals within Jeepster might feel a
bit beleagured and that's not nice for anyone: all my comments are in
reference to Jeepster as an organisation and not individuals, and the
decisions they make as a business, and the standard list rules
continue to apply.  It seems to me entirely fair that people on this
list can comment about how an organisation that affects their own
lives operates.  But if anyone has a go at individuals on this list
in an offensive way, it's flaming, and I'll jump on them with my big
plastic sword.  This applies equally to anyone who has a go at
individuals within Jeepster as long as they remain list member, so
play fair folks.  And for the record, I don't *think* any of the
mails so far have been flames, but simply responses to the appearance
of the Jeepster discussion list which took us all by surprise.  A few
have been a little close to the line though, so watch out!

Finally I close with the wise and relevant words of Graham Linehan,
who wrote Father Ted's left half, in yesterday's Guardian.  In
response to the question:

"Does the Internet threaten or enhance individual freedom?"

he answers:

"There is certainly a lot more pornography available, so more people
are feeling it's OK to sit in front of a computer in the nude.
That's a kind of freedom."
