Yes indeed it is, it's also a bit odd they thought that people who like
Steps records (I guess we're talking 30-something clubbers, and perhaps
disillusioned Brotherhood of Man fans perhaps) would go out of their way to
vote for Steps.
Am I wrong in saying that Steps' hit was a cover of the great Bee Gees
"Tragedy"? Seems like in that case, shouldn't the best newcomer award go the
Bee Gees? Oh, mind you, they won the Brits lifetime achievement award a year
ago or so.
I'm just disappointed by Pete Waterman's behaviour, I bet he'd like Belle
and Sebastian if he gave them a proper listen. Still, he's getting a bit
long in the tooth now anyway. I've almost given up hope that he'll ever be
able to scale the heights of the mighty "Roadblock" again. Steps were a
mistake too. I'm sure if he'd persevered with Pat and Mick that'd have beat
Belle and Sebastian hands down.
