"What is it about Belle and Sebastian that make me feel
connected again
to my school childhood? Do any other B&S fans feel that same
connection?
And is it in the same way?"

oh, this was one of the first things i thought when i heard
them.. not only school but childhod in general..
with b&s everything seems so fresh, like you're discovering
love and sadness all over again.

i can't help but feel sorry for kids in school at the moment.
i mean with all this scare about "trench coat mafias"
dissasociated, shy and awkward kids ready to blow everyones
brains out. gosh! i know me and my friends would all have
been put into counselling sessions right away. i read about
this kid, who after writing down their thoughts on the
shootings (as the class was asked to) was put into counselling
because they wrote that while they dont condone the
actions or the violence, that they could empathise with and
understand what led them to do it.... stars of track and
field...
anyway, while we're sort of on the subject who else thinks
that (sweping musical tastes under the rug for now) marylin
manson would be a fun guy to hang out with on a friday night-
you know, hit the town, drink a little and go to a few
discos with hiim in tow.
the bookstore i work in just got a copy of his biography,
which btw is a really really funny book if you can find a copy

second hand (which, give it a few months and you undoubtedly
will) and i was flicking through it and when customers came
up to the counter i had this automatic reaction to try and
hide it, like i was embarrassed to be caught reading it.
which i sort of was.
and for a bit of scottish flavour...
 Q. What's the difference between a bagpipe and an onion?
 A. No one cries when you chop up a bagpipe.
..sorry
d

oh i can't help myself....
 Q. How is playing a bagpipe like throwing a javelin
    blindfolded?
 A. You don't have to be very good to get people's attention.

 Q. What's the definition of a gentleman?
 A. Someone who knows how to play the bagpipe and doesn't.
