How come nobody told me Mr Augustus Pablo had popped his clogs? He had
something wrong with his foot, apparently, but wouldn't let the wily doctors
of Babylon take a look it, preferring the advice of his personal
"herbalist", Dr Bagga. What a shame. I don't know very much about Reggie
music, but I know what I like, and I will be playing a CD or two in his
honour today. Of course, this does mean that Sarah Martin is now the
unchallenged Monarch of the Melodica, and should release a solo record
forthwith. It can only be better than the Genitive Verbs.

No he really did mean gamble in the fields. This is a reference to Oooooon's
appearance at the last Greenwich picnic where she fleeced the lot of us at
Rooolette, and then proceeded to spend her ill-gotten winnings on
crack-whores and cheap whiskey.

Well, well, well. So, John Irving is a member of the list? Can I say, Mr
Irving, that you are a shoddy nostaligist for nineteenth century realism,
with some dubious attitudes towards women? No? Actually, George Steiner is a
member of the list too. After my little temper tantrum on Friday, he sent me
a private mail. "Remember, Mr Trousers, how I once said that the only valid
criticism of a work of art, is, in fact, a better work of art? Well the only
the valid criticism of someone else's post, is to write a better post
yourself." Wise words Mr Steiner. I will endeavour to follow them.
