Sinister: You Made Me Forget My Wensleydale

Well, 10 000 000 mails later we seem to be all agreed that Honey can
e-mail his mates for advice on running the list. Great, now we can get
down to important business like Sports biscuits. While I can understand
the blend of cricket and an essentially bland traditional sweet snack
product only edible with large amounts of tea is a marriage made in
heaven, my vote goes to those really enigmatic ones where you can't tell
which sport is being played.

In the antique booksale somebody recommended Gabriel King's 'The Wild
Road'. Well one half of Mr/Ms King's other work is also worth a read.
That's the half who is M.John Harrison (Gabriel King is a
nom-de-Wordperfect for him and some publishing agent working together).
Judging by the stuff other people here seem to like I can recommend his
semi-autobiog 'Climbers'.

While this thread lives I must also get in my two top reads 'The Child
Garden' by Geoff Ryman (totally twee) and Dylan Thomas' 'Under Milk
Wood' - the book or the animated version.

While I'm in a recommending mood, since zummer iz a cummin in I gave my
ancient copy of Virginia Astley's 'FromGardens Where We Feel Secure'
it's anual spin on the turntable. I don't know if you can still get hold
of it but do if possible. It sounds a bit like what Gentle Waves would
have had to sound like if Isobelle lost her voice.

The answers are: 'Simple Things', the chinese one on East Parade,
Oglethorpe, and behind the frozen fish isle in Sainsbury's but what are
the questions?

Anyway I don't lurk - I loom.
