Sinister: Gear!

Thanks to you all, I read the issue of Gear at the Trenton train station
(don't ask) looking quite the sophisticated (i.e. too wimpy to brazenly
read hard porn) modern pervert, what with the in-your-face bikini'd girl
on the front. "I'm reading it for the articles on wimpy Scottish
folk-rock bands, really!" It did make for an interesting contrast though.
Could it be that deep down inside that chauvinist exterior lies the
teenage angsty pop kid who believed himself better than the other boys
because he liked girls for who they were and in terms of A, B, C and D
numbers?

Nah, you're right, probably not. It was most likely a favor to one of the
editor's old college pals..."Can you fill in four pages about anything you
want? Bella who? Well, that sounds great, is she hot?"

What becomes a legend most? Stories where the writer tracks down the
reclusive artist and talks to the locals. Just smacks of some kind of
artsy documentary idea doesn't it? Being Stuart Murdoch...oh well, at
least he didn't appear too painfully eccentric or emotionally frail. I
hate that, when it seems like the only thing the artist was meant to do
was create his or her art, yet they're unable to go down to the store and
buy some eggs or something. 'Course, I suppose in some circles his
Morrissey fascination won't win him too many points. This is not one of
those circles, however.

I hope B&S are aware of the fact that the re-release of _Tigermilk_ after
_The Boy_ might put some pressure on them...and that they bring back the
R-O-C-K in a big way. I wonder--the fourth album is bound to bring some
more interesting things into the mix I'm sure. Slightly stylistically
different songs, perhaps an emphasis on soul? Who knows. Hopefully they
don't get too carried away with the artistry and think they have to go all
avant-garde in order to stay "relevant." Fuck relevance, just stay good
anyway anyhow.

Back to the work I should have started,

Xavier
