Sinister: b&s on telly - for sinister (fwd)

Everyone - the band's office (er, Neil and Katrina) have sent along
early warning of a debut TV appearance of B&S on, erm, TV.  New songs,
first on Sky for plugged-in people and then on Channel 4.  Please don't
bomb the list for requests "please someone tape it for me!" because I'm
sure lots of people will at the time - if someone wants to think of a
way to organise it and keep the list sane, I'd be grateful.

Also I've reproduced the band diary latest for anyone who wants to
see it here.  It's quite funny and talks about B&S on TV too.  It's
like panto.  Should put a stop to the vicious rumours that B&S are
twee once and for all.  If you all get sick of me sending it here as
well let me know.

Stuart Murdoch of Belle and Sebastian discusses 'The Tube and what to
do about it' 

Neil: Do you want to do The Tube?
Richard: With Jools Holland?
Neil: With Chris Moyles.
Chris: He's a dick... OK.

Bel: What will we play?
Me: I dunno, what do you want to play?
Bel: Something old. Something they will know.

Mick: What do you want to play?
Me: I'm not bothered, what do you think?
Mick: Something new. Definitely.

Sarah: Any ideas what we are going to play?
Me: Mick says something new. Bel says something old.
Sarah: Something borrowed then.
Me: A medley!
Sarah: Yes.
Me: I'll start with 'Thank You For The Music', then Bel and you do
'The Day We Went to Bangor'...
Sarah: ... then we finish with Stevie doing 'There Ain't No Pleasing
You'. A medley.
Stuart David: I'm not fucking doing it... Beep.

Me: What are we going to do about The Tube?
Chris & Stevie: We don't know. We are in America. We are having the
time of our lives. We have never eaten so well. The weather's
amazing. There's the Golden Gate Bridge.

Me: I'm fed up with this.
Grant off Eastenders: Who else is on the show?
Me: Travis, Weller, Oasis, McCartney, Sting probably.
Grant off Eastenders: Oh, I love that Travis. (sings) Why does it
always rain...
Me: You're not helping.

Mature Student: Why don't you take a vote on it?
Me: That's sensible. Thanks Mature Student!

I'VE BEEN sitting in this same spot all year, and I'm bored so I'm
going to describe a couple of my favourite things to make up for it.

Chris and I enter Nice'n'Sleazy's at 5.00pm on a summer Tuesday.
We've been working, but that instantly passes from our minds as we
get a prime table and ask for the Scrabble board. We order Jack
Daniels. I put a pound in the jukebox, jabbing in the codes without
looking. Eighties favourites. Quieter than your 90's junk, so I ask
the girl to turn it up. Foxy brings over our veggie BLT's on the
house. I get 'cunting' on a triple word score. 

I leave the pavilion with the clack-clack of moulded studs. There
used to be a wee guy who went round the West End wearing football
boots the whole time. My guess is that he wanted to anticipate the
frisson of pre-match joy over and over again.
