Dear Sinister legions,

Does anyone have any information on a band with the moniker "Appliance"? I
saw a video of theirs (for "Pacificon") on MTV's 120 Minutes this week in
the U.S. and was quite impressed. Their sound is very reminiscent of the
early Verve alla "A Storm in Heaven". In addition, CD-Now
(http://www.cdnow.com) was reticent when queried for information on these
lads. All I can safely ascertain is that they released their debut LP in
mid-October and have an import single available for Amerks to purchse. For
all that I know, "Appliance" may not even be from the U.K.

Second, has anyone heard Fly Pan Am's new LP? Is it worth the investment?
They were billed by Other Music in NYC as a "Godspeed You Black Emperor!
side project". I don't think that this is entirely true, albeit they are a
quartet from Montreal who play instrumental music like GYBE!. At least
that's what I garner from GYBE!'s web site
(http://www.southern.com/southern/band/GDSPD).

Finally, anyone with any information on the above topics for an ignorant
bloke like myself, please respond off the list to markniciu at hotmail.com

P.S. Does anyone else find it disconcerting that people actually have dreams
involving Belle and Sebastian, or more disturbing that people remember this
dreams vividly and report them as if they happened in reality? No malice
against anyone who dreams of Belle and Sebastian or any other musical act
for that matter, but I just think that it is weird given that most of us
have never met the chaps and only seen a few scattered pictures pasted
across the internet.
