Sinister: something i have heard

I have heard through the grapevine that B&S were approached and asked to
help on a smiths tribute album with a cover song.I was told that they turned
the idea down. I must say that if this is indeed true i have nothing but
respect for them in this decision....after all the smiths are dead and gone.
I was wondering if anyone could confirm or disspell this rumor ?
