Sinister: on dark days

i'm curious about general world depression...
does anyone have an opinion on whether they
were most depressed between 1985-1990, 1990-1995
1995-2000?  is it more age dependant or is the
world just generally happier nowadays?

i keep thinking that i don't hear many songs
like 'how soon is now?' nowadays...
