Well this is a all a bit negative.  I mean if you looked at everything like that
then where would you be?  "Frankly, I'm not sure about this whole 'life' thing .
I've done some sums and only 0.2% of it seems to be filled with sublime
brilliance.  What a con!".

Yes it was a shame that any hopes of a second B&S song being fitted in were
dashed by Paul McCartney's insistence on banging out an extended version (false
endings and everything!) of  some 'rock n roll classic' that seemed to be called
'We're gonna have a party tonight!' with the bloke out of Travis as Jim'll Fix
It third guitarist.  But I was still high from the sublime brilliance bit.

It was a perfect moment.  One second Chris Moyles was roaring "And later we've
got only got SIR PAUL MCCARTNEY!!!" for the fifteenth time and the next, there
they were.  They played like *angels*. The song was lifted by the introduction
of a wonderfully graceful alternate guitar line.  Perhaps some musically-minded
person could explain to me what the difference was.   Mick had had his trumpet
confiscated and played some kind of guitar instead. Isobel had had her hairclips
confiscated and was sporting a bob.  Later she whistled out of tune.  I love
Isobel.  Stuart fluffed one line because (I am reliably informed) he was
distracted by someone breakdancing in the crowd.  Stuart David sat apart from
the others (rancid piss smell?) sprawled out like he was playing a sitar.  It
was just a glorious five minutes.  And then it was over.  And it cut to a
'comedy' scene in the OB room.  They had gone on unannounced and they left
uncommented upon.  It was like they weren't supposed to be there.  Perhaps they
only made it on becuase of Stuart calling in a favour off uncle Rupert.

Everyone's miserable as sin, but I think people started realising how boring it
was to sing songs about it.  I mean the odd one is OK, but even Morrissey only
wrote about four "I'm fed up" songs whilst he was in the Smiths that weren't
lifted by humour.  And most of those had uplifting musical accompaniment, so
they were OK too.   What I'l trying to say is that I don't think much of
'Unloveable'.  Buzzcocks wrote a song complaining that 'Everybody's Happy
Nowadays' back in 1934 so I guess these things go in cycles.

It's funny - for ages on Sinister it was the great unspoken that all the girls
hated Isobel and all the boys fancied her.  Then someone broke the rule and all
hell broke loose. Don't take it all too seriously, kids. I have it on good
authority that Sarah has an unrivalled collection of Gentle Waves rarities
hidden under her bed.
