1.

because
i do not hope to turn again

because
i do not hope

because
i do not hope to turn

That's just my tribute to a couple of noted poetry figures.

2.
Goatham: doesn't George Bush claim to be from there? Or it might be Bill
Clinton. I'm talking distant origins, not instant gratifications.

3.
'The construction of reality' is a term to be careful of. It all depends
what you mean 'by', as they say, so I'm told. But for a pretty extreme take,
try chapter one of Dick Rorty's 'Contingency, Irony and Solidarity'
(Cambridge: Cambridge UP, 1989). If I'm not mistaken, it begins with a
sentence like 'About two centuries ago, the idea that truth was something
made rather than found began to take hold in Europe'. (I'll award myself a
cash prize if I've got that right, miles away from my copy.)

5.
'On Camber Sands
I can connect
Nothing with nothing.
The broken fingernails of dirty hands.'

That kind of thing. I wouldn't know, I've never been.
