ian wrote that he saw someone wearing a beatles (albert dock) jacket.
(except he used capitals - sooo outdated dahling). i had forgotten it until
this moment, but i used to own a beatles (albert dock) sweatshirt with a
yellow submarine on it. unfortunately it made me look unutterably stupid.
in fact, i used to be able to make the most 'in' items (eg. coloured DMs,
bags with all your favourite bands scrawled on them - this is early 90s we're
talking here) look, yup, unutterably stupid. i don't get it. how come some
people are just born cool, some achieve cool, and some have coolness thrust
upon them, but some never really come close? is it a gene?

i am still struggling to get the image of gui manipulating a dj out of my
head. i mean, i love b&s, don't get me wrong, but there are some depths to
which i would not descend (literally). and then george dickie (who may have
lost his voice in real life but is still loud and clear on the list,
thankfully) started talking about still having two fingers, and i had to go
and lie down with my copy of 'the wit and wisdom of mary whitehouse' to
recover. and as for those lyrics alistair quoted...

i'm concerned that people are getting over-dependent on the list crush site
for their self-esteem. i have one measly vote, and you don't hear me
complaining. but while i'm on the subject: HOW COULD THIS HAPPEN???!!!!

my sister returned from the reading festival a couple of days ago. although
she is unlike me in almost every respect, this was an echo of my own younger
days, as i went to said festival at exactly the same juncture in my life
(between 1st and 2nd year of a levels.) her intelligent choice of bands to
view were: offspring, terrorvision and the red hot chilli peppers. mind you,
my abiding memory (apart from meeting my first proper boyfriend there - ahhh)
is of throwing up while watching the smashing pumpkins, so can't feel too
superior really.

an almost seamless segue: alistair wrote about boyzone and pop/Pop. i must
admit that i like boyzone quite a lot. is this incompatible with liking b&s?
nah. they are Pop, definitely. ronan keating is an angel. 'you say it
best when you say nothing at all' - he could practically be talking about me,
on the evidence of this post. so i will be quiet now, finally.

luv archel xxx

ps: i'm not going to cheltenham any more. i'm staying here and trying to
get a job which actually pays money. radical.
