Sinister: news of the day

Good morning sinisterines,

I woke up well before the sun and decided to read the news online.  Found
several things that might be of interest.  Or not.

The first was a photo of Keith Richards and John McEnroe watching Monica
Seles play tennis at the US Open.  They were smiling and I thought how nice
it would have been had Mr. P!O!P!kins been able to be there with them.  I'm
sure he'd have enjoyed it.

On the Thai news front, I see that while the rest of the world has concerns
about today being 9/9/99, it is an auspicious day for those in Thailand.
According to that country's most "sought-after" fortune teller, Attiviroj
Sritula, 9 is a good omen and a holy number.  ``The figure 9 represents the
spike on the head of Rahu (the Hindu god of darkness) which throws a flash
of light and represents prosperity,'' he added.

Maybe Miss Oon will strike it rich in the casinos today.

Lap dancers in Liverpool can now remove their G-strings and dance completely
nude.  Apparently they can't do that in Manchester.  Now they just have to
prove over 6 months that they can adhere to national decency laws.

Mayor Giuliani of New York City just served on a jury.  It seems said jury
rejected the claim of a man whose genitals were blistered and permanently
scarred in the shower by hot water.  ``I have renewed respect for the jury
system. I was very much gratified by the experience,'' Giuliani said
afterward.  I wonder about the gratification part.

And a pre-human skull was discovered in a curio shop in New York.  Not
surprising.
