Sinister: since you went away it's been night time all day...

Blake hath spoken:

<< i bought two 'random' albums the other day...yo la tengo's 'i can hear the
heart beating as one' and guided by voices 'under the brush under the
stars'. at least that's what i think it's called. i'm not really getting
 into either, actually. >>

Can't say much about the Yo La Tengo, but Blake! you're breaking my heart
with the GBV apathy! Once you get past the intentionally crap production
(done by Steve Albini...go figure) the beautiful, wide world of Robert
Pollard is opened unto you. This was his last good album before he hit his
shite stretch, which has consumed the last four years of his life. Their new
album is quite good, but Under the Bushes Under the Stars will always reign
supreme in my heart and mind. When I got it the summer before 10th grade I
spent an entire holiday pretending I was singing "Your Name Is Wild" to this
really pretty girl in my French class as I toiled about as a grocery stock
boy. To this day everytime I walk in that store I start humming that song.
As Blake said, Hurricane Floyd wasn't quite the monster the Weather Channel
portrayed him as by the time he made his way to Baltimore. He was actually a
pretty kind and benevolent soul by dumping a foot of rain on our parched and
drought wracked fields. I think the farmers should kiss his ass because he
kept them in work for one more year. Every September 16th should be
"Tropical Storm Floyd Day" in which every farmer has to be shown footage of
his crops rotting in the fields just so they'll realize how close they came.
I liked the fellow so much I hope Floyd stops by again next year
actually...I'll even leave a spot at the table for him.
Speaking of the Weather Channel, is anyone else mesmorized by their female
anchor Christine Abernathy? Not that she's overly sexy or anything, but
she's just so tiny and pixie-ish with her slight southern twang and earnest
demeanor that I could watch her all day. Just when I'm fully in love with
her she says "Ok, let's have a look at how your weekend is shaping
up...Greg?" and then the nerd in a ill-fitting suit steps up to the map and I
dejectedly change the channel. She needs her own show where its just 24
hours of Abernathy in her glory! In fact I'm going to go see if she's on
now...
Ummm...so the new album is out this fall then? Right on!
Love and South Park (because eventhough the freshman like it, it really is
the best show on the telly)
