Sinister: The Revenge Of Maxwell's Silver Hammer

Apologies.

You always know that a post is going to be good when it begins with
pleadings for you to forgive the author before you even read the e-mail. I
am at the local library (you know, the one that doesn't believe in having
any books on my lovely literary list) trying to fit all of my mindless
drivel into a letter before the librarians run me off. Oh they are a scary
little breed - with their white purple tinged hair and their stern faces.
So, if this ends abrubtly and I have just enough time to push the send
button before I meet their rule filled wrath - please pray for my soul (or
what's left of it).

Why am I reduced to pecking away at a library who doesn't believe in books
computer? Well, ummm, erh. I had a mishaps. While trying to spread good
cheer, happiness, and literary joy, I crashed my computer. I had downloaded
this webpage maker (Homestead. Don't use it - its of the ) in hopes of
being able to post my list on the web. After I installed it and then
restarted my computer so I could use it, my computer wouldn't restart. I
tried coaxing it into booting up. Cooing softly in its ear, singing soft
lullabyes, making promises of sweets and such. But nothing.. only grring and
foaming at the disk drive. Maxwell (my computer) really does seem to be
quite disgruntled with me. Oh, so much for being good to the last drop...

With the advent of the computer crash calamity of 99, my name has become a
hiss and a byword in my house. I have been keeping to myself and not really
coming around much. So, all the more time for reading! Unfortunately, I
don't even have a recent printed out copy of the list and so that's not
good. Because of the failure on my part and the hatred of my name where the
computer is concerned, I will not be able to post Laura's Lovely Literary
List on the web. Anyone who would like to post it is certainly welcomed and
encouraged to do so. I, for one, would praise your name for eternities (or
at least until I fell asleep that night). I know of one person from the list
who *might* do it. If that falls through than anyone with times on their
hands and knowledge of how to put the list on the web to spare, let me know!
If not, I can always e-mail it as an attachment to anyone who would like it.
But for now, I really will not have regular access to a computer for another
week. Oh bother. So, please forgive me.

Well, I did have a lovely trip to Virigina this weekend. Yes, we started for
a drive and ended up right close to where this beloved list's Jygsaw Dave
resides. I was even on the same road as the exit sign to where the college
he attends is. *Shivers* It was like walking in the holy land. There is a
billboard on that road for a country music radio station that has the slogan
"Feel the music" on it. I wonder when people when they look at that
billboard with Shania Twain stuffed into a pair of leather pants and a
leopard print halter, if 'the music' is what they're feeling? Just a
thought.

I would like to thank everyone who has been so kind in taking their time in
recommending books. And one member of the list who will remain nameless
(here's a hint. starts with a Bl and ends in an Ache.) has been quite a doll
in helping me with the whole literary list compliation. Much thanks to him.
Don't worry, lasses, next time I'm in Winston Salem I'll be sure to procure
a more recent of our nerdy shy eyed pacifist. Though, I'll have to
obtain it from where I usually see him. Hopefully the blinds won't be down
that day and the tree limbs won't get in way of the ... hehe. Just
kidding -
his blinds are always up..

This post draws to a close (and there was much rejoicing), my computer time
draws nigh (and there was much librarian stomping), and I shall bid my
farewell.

farewell~
