William breathed in as he fastened the laces on his boots. His boots were
big and brown and he wore them rarely. The reason he was now putting them on
was that he was going to the park and he felt a fraud wearing his usual
shoes in the park.
William had been round this park more than once, but today is seemed a bit
different. It was nearly a quater past seven on a spring evening and things
weren't yet dark. I had been raining for days on end and large parts of the
park were flooded, as usual. It wasn't raining now, although the air was
moist, it was not unpleasent.
The grey sky was reflecting in the newly formed lakes and seemed to reflect
an old world that Willaim did not know but he felt he belonged there all the
same. Belonged.
The rain had made the unflooded fields vibrant and William wondered how many
shades of green there were in that small field. He'd counted up to seven
when something caught his eye. 'Sophie 4 Gary' written in tippex on a tree.
This sort of thing sometimes makes William angry. Today it just made him
strangely sad. So very sad.
