Sinister: dangerous songs, definately not for children

well there i was just drivin home close to midnight on a thursday and i had
channel flicked thru every station on the radio before i heard this voice.

a scottish voice, on australian radio, not entirely unusual, yet...
i listened to a bit more and realised when the (tosser) announcer said
'we're talking to Richard Colburn' that it was indeed Richard Colburn.
well blow me down.

he was talking to someone on triple j, odd as i don't think i've ever heard
them played on that station. but i listened with bated breath to what he had
to say. he talked about the band and the brits and lots more stuff that i
can't be bothered writing at the mo ( etc etc) and said in very very vague
terms that (paraphrased here okay, don't go lynching me if this doesn't
happen)
'we'd really like to come and do a tour of Australia and Japan, maybe some
time next year.'
now this could be plain and simple 'keep the fan base happy' talk but hey, i
just assumed that i'd have to move before i saw them live. anything's a
bonus. actually i had never heard an interview, funnily enough these guys
don't seem to do much press :) so therefore it was kind of novel anyway.
like a book. but spoken.

Richard also got to program five songs or so and gave us some Stevie Wonder,
The Who, Adam Ant, and John Coltrane. and one other that slips my mind. i'll
remember after i press send.

To add my five cents ( worth around 0.0005 pence) to the debate on promo's,
personally for me its kind of inevitable to have this album talked about
before I get it, (unless of course you are all willing to wait about 10
years or so when the band suddenly gets a big revival after the
breakup/tragic circumstances and their albums are repackaged in a nice big
'Belle & Sebastian, The Cardy years' box set and hence gets a release here
when it rollick's up the charts in the UK )

OK thats a kind of exaggeration but hey, it will take a month or two. Never
mind.

however the other night when they were interviewing Richard Colburn my
mumbling of 'play a new track, play a new track,.... go on,..... fuck, not
going to play it.' nearly caused me to slam my car into a nearby pole. so
there is a danger in pre listens.

right well i'll be off now.
helen
