/me jumps back just a little with a surprise expression at a couple of
recent mails, and makes everyone a nice cup of tea.
All I really want to say about it is remind people that it's list
policy that Sinister Likes New People :) If anyone's got a glimmer of
an impression from previous mails that we only like people who were on
the list in 1977, although I know that impression was unintentional,
then please have it surgically removed. Believe me, I'll always do
what I can to keep Sinister as *open* as possible, while remaining sane
and readable. It's like Mars Bars and Orange KitKats: we love and
cherish the old chocolate bars that stay the distance, and we also love
the new exciting variations if they make our tastebuds tingle.
Sometimes in private we get naked and smear the chocolate on our
bodies. What we don't want to do is spend all our time discussing
which chocolate bars are best, instead of smearing. OK? I speak with
authority, my Dad worked for Cadbury's for most of his working life.
This doesn't of course mean that all chocolate is equal: some contains
more intoxicating cocoa, some are rich dark and manly, some are
beautifully frothy and milky, and just sometimes some are a bit bland.
Just how far dare I go with this awful analogy? Please do keep being
careful that what you're posting to the list is of interest to others.
Chocolatey sermon ends.
Besides, the Sunset Beach omnibus is on Channel 5 and all's well with
the world.
Now a mail from me as me rather than me as "god Mum I'll do the washing
up LATER!".

Eh! Well if I did slag it off, I must've done it in my sleep. What a
nerve I have, I haven't even heard it! I've just had a horrible
thought maybe I become Peter Miller when I'm asleep? Maybe he's just
the other side of me, like that old episode in Star Trek when there
were two Kirk's? Maybe when I'm sleep-typing I have romantic illusions
of living in a castle in Spain and knowing all there is to know about
the 70s Who, except for Keith? I'm going to book myself into one of
those Sleep Research Centres and see if I grow a curly moustache,
sombrero and maraccas overnight.
I've just heard on the radio that "Hit Entertainment", the company who
currently make "Bob The Builder" have put in a bid to buy the company
who own "Thomas the Tank Engine" and "Captain Pugwash" - to make the
biggest kids TV company in Europe (and presumable the one with the most
double-entendres?). Does this mean Mark C of this list who works for
Bob will become a billionaire overnight?

Ooo yes it's deeply political! I feel strongly that the Internet
should be about ORGanisations and not COMmercial concerns. That and
the fact that missprint.com belongs to a Portugese printing shop. I
actually mailed them the other day, missprint.com, hands across the
water kind of thing: I wrote a letter in English (or as close as I can
do) and then ran it through Babelfish translator at
http://babelfish.altavista.com to make it Portugese, then sent it. As
older list members remember when we played with some B&S lyrics there,
translating them into French and back to English the results are
interesting. I'm expecting a call from Interpol about death threats to
Portugese photocopiers any minute. There's at least three Portugese
people on Sinister - what are Portugese prisons like?
By the way, this is *not* an invitation to post more babelfished
lyrics to the list! Go and see the archives e.g.:
