Hello to you all!

First of all, I have a favor to ask of any willing listee. I am currently in
the States and will be back in Glasgow next Saturday, but that is not soon
enough to catch the several B&S television appearances. If anyone did record
the Tube and/or will be recording their appearance on Friday, I would be ever
so appreciative if I could somehow receive a copy. There may be money in it
for you, and possibly other rewards if something can be negotiatied. I will
also love you forever. Isn't that reason enough?

Hmmmm...it's Sunday now but I suppose I will briefly recant my New Year's
experience, which won't take but a few lines. I was one of the paranoid
millions (okay, maybe thousands) in the USA who decided it was best not be out
on the roads that night, so I had dinner with my sister and then we saw a movie
-- "The Talented Mr. Ripley." It stars the fabulous Matt Damon who I intend to
seduce at the first opportunity, which will probably never arise. It was also
one of the creepiest films I've ever had the good fortune? misfortune? to see.
I don't enjoy brutal violence on-screen so that was a bit of a downer for me
but also very necessary to the plot. Anyhow if you like sociopathic creepy
thrillers then I suggest this film for your viewing pleasure. If you love Matt
Damon, likewise. Then after the film we returned home, watched most of "A Hard
Day's Night," which has become one of many videos we watch ceaselessly, and
then turned on the regular television to watch Dick Clark in New York City and
drank a bottle of champagne at 12. It was a nice evening -- not very out of
the ordinary for us, though, except for the whole turn-of-the-century thing.

Now that I've lost all interest among the readership, I supposed I will be
going now to take my shower and write the essay I have to hand in next week on
Polish Solidarity in 1980 and '81. Sexciting. Actually, the bagels and lox I
had for breakfast were quite honestly very sexciting. Incidentally, anyone
know of a good bagel shop in or near Glasgow? I might not survive another six
months in Scotland without bagels.

Goodbye, one and all, I love you dearly!

Moira xoxo
