hello everyone. <waves> i've been a patient little child for the past few
weeks, and now am thrilled with my power to post...woohoo!

my name's amy and i am a 17 year-old female in the suburbs of long
island, ny. 45 minutes to penn station(34th street, manhattan)by train. i
also happen to live in the "ghetto" of long island. i guess it makes it even
more so unbearable.

you can normally find me somewhere with my knotted up headphones on. it
gets me through my normally dull life. i tend to observe the idiocy in my
school's cafeteria through tinted glasses-radiohead, blur, kula shaker, pulp,
b&s, aphex twin, dylan, donovan, etc,. depends on my mood and how rowdy my
fellow students are.

i have a new-found love for literature now. which doesn't necessarily
mean i love the best authors in the world. my favorite authors include:
huxley, joseph sheridan le fanu, phil rickman, richard matheson, vonnegut,
james joyce and e. e. cummings. i wish i had the time to read more, but the
menial tasks of school require my attention.

i used to be an art-school girly. in my mind anyway. i'm a
documentary/landscape photographer, and i admit my photographs are what
really helped get me into college. my writing isn't close to spectacular. i
attended the pre-college program in photography in the puck building at pratt
two summers ago, and the pre-college program in photography at the school of
visual arts(sva)last summer. if any of you were at either program, don't
hesitate to e-mail me. :)

the biggest chunk of my life has been taking up by singing lately. i am
currently in 2 of my school's choir, singing alto in the mixed and soprano in
the select choir. i'm really an alto at heart though. i was an alto in ny's
all-state chorus and alto in the county's chorus. the all-state choir led me
to believe that it is possible for anyone with a decent body and a decent
voice to get in. it was a disapointment. i sing opera, classical,
spiritual(for choir), and broadway. i also hope to start a band one day
which can accomodate my voice. it should be fun.

i'm attending bennington(bennington, vt) next year. i hope to combine
vocal music, photography and creative writing and create some sort of
program. i also wish i was on the stage 24 hours a day, but hopefully that
time will come in college.

now all you lovely people know my hobbies and goals. hopefully this list
could act as a therapist. just kidding :). i've just found out that beck
has sold-out valentine's day in ny...i'm very upset. i didn't know tickets
went on sale yesterday. i am going to stop this dreadfully long post now and
cry into my seafood bisque. thank you darlings for reading, and i would
appreciate any fellow new yorkers or humans in general to respond back.

amy.
