<humourless interlude>

Just to emphasise what's been said a million times in Sinister's
illustrious history: discussions of the content OF the list ON the list
are considered off-topic. Replies to mails such are Megan's are likely
to be of the "why shouldn't we talk about X?" variety, which spawn
another ten "because it's boring" variety, which spawn another hundred
"stop being a fascist" messages. You see? THIS is the surest way of
making the list unreadable to everyone. For newcomers, this might
sound a little harsh, but we've been afflicted badly by such
discussions and it's nearly destroyed the list in the past. So I'll
always act to stop them with my big list hammer. Beware. Grrr :)

If you don't like the content of the list, the correct action is:

A) Mail the person whose content you don't like and discuss it. Be
brave and actually talk TO them, not about them.

B) Mail ME and tell me what your view is. I'll always try and
reflect what the majority wants for the list: there's no point
otherwise.

C) Send stuff you consider GOOD CONTENT to the list. Don't tell
others what they send is BAD.

D) Leave and find a list you like more.

I hope you don't do D) though. But just remember it's an option,
rather than lambasting anyone with your kinky whip.

As Megan says, strictly NO replies to the list about list content
please. The only one allowed to talk about list content on the list is
me, because I'm mummy. It probably is timely to say that the subject
of childrens' programmes when we were young (i.e. over three decades)
has been done to DEATH on this list, as has the discussion about
whether we should be discussing it. No more please. If you like it,
go and look at the archives. They're packed full of it. :)

Please do remember the cardinal rule: think if what you're about to
post is likely to be of interest to at least half the list: 500
people. Think if YOU'D read 500 mails like your own. I know this
mail might not pass the test, shh, stop smirking at the back.

Damn I was all set to write a witty and incisive and slightly cheeky
me-mail to the list tonight and now look what I've spent my beans on.

Don't hate me.
Honey
