christa asked "when was the last time *you* felt real joy?"
i say...last saturday. splendid time at the b&s pic-ee-nic
at rock creek park. then laini and i jumped over to see
this amazing band longwave [my third time] at the velvet
lounge [the epitome of the word 'dive'] and then to the
mousetrap! belle & sebastian were played at least three
times! and what fun it was. i met up with a sinister boy
who i had apparently met a few times before. and i had
completely forgot. now i remember a little. i think that
is the number one reason i don't drink the alcohol! 'cos
my memory is already rotten and i'd rememember even less
if i drank! ha!

okay pertinent information about make-out party will
follow, but i am also going to add that the wonderfully
entertaining steve[walkn10]'s band, callow, have been
asked to play the next make-out party; just in case you
can't come to this one. sure it's before the cure, but
the cure is at night and make-out party takes place
during the day! woo! voyeurism hoy!

evol,
maddy!

MAKE-OUT PARTY [an event that proves virginia is for lovers]
June 17th, 2000.

http://www.nowmusicandfashion.com
the event runs from 12:30ish p.m. until around 5:00 p.m.

A day for socializing with kids in your scene whilst eating
free cupcakes and drinking fruit punch. To boot, you get to
see great local bands of many different genres at the event.
get there sometime before 1:00 p.m. and stay until around
5:00 p.m. to see the following bands:

*worn thin: They're a hair metal band without the hair.
They play melodic emo and punk and they're waiting for 80's
metal to make a comeback.

*devon green: a boy band similiar to n'sync without the
choreography, or the glittery clothing. scratch that. they
play catchy pop along the lines of ben lee, buffalo tom,
and the lemonheads. and they'll steal your girlfriend's
hearts away if you don't watch out.

*the mallstars: coming out of the town of Actiondale,
Virginia rise the Mallstars. A sure fire mixture of power
pop and punk, you will never be left without feeling to
dance again. They combine their influences of the Hi Fives,
Mr T Experience, Buzzcocks and the Ramones in a way that
has never been heard before. They are the new teen sensation
that's sweeping the nation and you will be mesmerized.

*barcelona: innocent casio-core from arlington, va! barcelona
play indie pop that will make you swoon. girl/boy vocals switch
on and off for the sweetest sounds on march records. their
second cd will be out soon. visit website at http://www.barcelonadc.com

*anne summers: power pop band following in the footsteps
of Elvis Costello and the Jam. Popmatters [http://www.popmatters.com]
dubbed them as "melodic, crunchy music similar to late
'70s New Wave bands". their second album, "very classy"
was released in March 2000 on Beatville Records. visit
