Hello Friends,
I'm a bit shocked that any list of great song writers with the initials SM
failed to mention my hero Stephen McRobbie. When you talk about GREAT
songwriters though it has to be married couples every time really. Greenwich
& Barry, Goffin & King, Ike & Tina Turner, Nancy & Lee, Leiber & Stroller,
Chip & Evie, Bacharach & David.....the list is endless. The Pastels have
obviously cottoned on to this and the immanent nuptials of Stephen and
Katrina and Aggi and the other one bodes well for the next LP. Stuart and
Isobel should get married really. I wonder if Isobel would call herself
Murdoch or Campbell-Murdoch or just stick with Campbell? There are so many
things you just can't take for granted in the 21st century.
Like England getting knocked-out by the Germans. I'm sure I was meant to be
writing a gloating mail this morning? See what happens when you join the
Euro.
I watched Walkabout right to the end last night. Not cos Jenny Agutter
spends most of the film in the buff - which is what my favourite magazine TV
Quick said - but because I wanted to know where it was all filmed. According
to the closing titles it was filmed entirely on location in Australia. So
that was helpful.
I nearly had to chin an old woman in a Little Chef at the weekend too. She
was smoking in the no smoking area and I've got a foul temper. Fortunately
for her she moved to the smoking area.
It's been quite an exciting weekend all-in-all though.
I'm not sorry by the way,
Love...John
