Sinister: flying the face of indie convention.

so i havn't posted in a long time, its cuz school is an evil thing.

also, i've listened to the clash for 2 days straight now so there's been
little wistfulness in my life. and its been raining and cold and i've got
that 'my life is rapidly going down the shitter' feeling, so you could say
i've got other things on my mind.

but then this appeared:
> AGH, my birthday. I do not wish for it to come. I
> fear the twenties...I am just a baby, really. Maybe if I was going to
> be 21 I would not mind. 20 just seems to be a crummy age.

yes. fear your twentieth birthday.
i cried almost all through mine. and my bonehead family went the extra mile
towards making the whole thing incredibly unpleasant. 20 is awful, you look
back and think that you'll probably only live to be 80 and the whole thing
is one quarter of the way through and you're still terminally awkward and
havn't really figured out how to avoid run-on sentences and no matter what
things will never turn out ok.

um, so happy birthday.....i won't give you anything sharp for your birthday.

and then this:
> so here's a great thread: indie-pop conventions! not like big groups
> of popstars, but common threads linking indie-pop together. they're
> fun to play with, you know... things like:
>
> * handclaps
> * cardigans
> * being sad because you don't have the nerve to talk to the girl you
> fancy who works at the bookstore
> * organs
> * courderoys

har! yes...i have a feeling that indie is a different thing in the UK than
in north america. but here are a few goodies:

::brown pants that are too short and show your socks at the ankles.

::small t-shirts with different coloured bands at the neck and arms and with
logos of public schools or obscure no-league sprots teams on the front

::the token RAWK song on the record to show that you aren't totally
art-school/brainer rock.

::big chunky plastic framed glasses

::the 'i just woke up' hair do that takes 15 minutes to do every morning.

::black chunky shoes to match the glasses.

::playing your guitar really low, even though it gives you a hand cramp.

personally i've been doing my best to eliminate these sorry cliche's from my
life, having VERY PARTED HAIR for instance and wearing loafers and ties and
tucking my shirts into my pants, and ironing everything till the creases
frequently cut me when i'm not careful. the worst thing in the world is
going to concerts and having everybody look like they just woke up and put
on their blue hoodie and too short brown work pants with studded leather
belt and red socks. grrr. wear pink you slouching indie types,
especially the men. LLLLLLL! and comb your fekkin hair!

i also play my bass pretty high up and such, that will teach them.

issues at hand:
the new album....has an ungainly title, i will not be blinded by mad
devotion and fawn over it, it is kinda gross.
it really has this ring of doom to it. whoever said this will probably be
the last B&S album could be right, the title certainly sounds like a last
album, or a last album before the 'and then they would never make a
half-decent album again' period settles in. like elvis costello and
imperial bedroom....i have a feeling that i'll like the new record but not a
lot.

i've clearly made up my mind already. i don't even need to hear the album.

oh...and in case the band find that they really can't get along without a
bass player..........i could relocate to scotland for just such a thing.
i'd be like stu d in that i'm grumpy and play gameboy but different in that
i'm single and tidy and from the colonies, and have a better grasp on
sampling (take that stu!).
