Okay, I'm sure most of you have read it, but for those of you who
haven't or don't want to waste £1.15 on a pile of shite...

STEVEN WELLS SAYS:

they're not 'pop stars' - they're a bunch of individuals who get
together to make music and the music should speak for itself".  This is
"dull" - if this is the case "Why bother being in a band in the first
place ?". 

I SAYS:

Erm, maybe I'm just being "naive", but isn't it a GOOD thing ?

Why bother being in a band if its NOT about the music. You could join a
circus or the Socialist Worker Party instead. (Actually, join the
Socialist Party of Great Britain (SPGB) instead - its better).

STEVEN WELLS SAYS:

B&S are distant and detached.

I SAYS:

So fucking what - they make good music. We don't want public idols to
copy and read about in "Hello" magazine, we want fucking music to listen
to. And anyway, aren't their lyrics anything but detached and distant ?
(Hefner, of course, are the kings of lyricy...is that a word ?)
Contrast, say, with emotionally-empty, formulaic, limp, impersonal,
wishy-washy wanky Travis/Embrace/Oasis etc lyrics.

STEVEN WELLS SAYS:

B&S have a "conservative ideology" and are "disenaged" with politics.
They're hampering the revolution (okay, so these last are not his EXACT
words).

I SAYS:

Erm, we don't want people to tell us what to think (we think for
ourselves thankyou), we want fucking music to listen to. Okay, so music
CAN be politicised, but it doesn't HAVE to be, and there are plenty of
other ways to make political points. Stop your pseudo-sociological
gobshite - we'll buy "The Spectator" or something if that's what we
want.

STEVEN WELLS SAYS:

B&S - "Stop the pouting".

I SAYS:

People should pout MORE.
