And who amongst you bunch of victims is going to risk damaging your
cardigans in a revolution? None of you, and thank god, because any
revolution that even insincerely targets a writer, simply for not sharing
your taste in music/lifestyle, as an enemy of the new republic, is going to
struggle to find support amongst sane people. How ridiculous, yeah I (i if
you prefer) think Belle and Sebastian are great (means the same as grate but
is the grown up spelling), but if Swells prefers the prodigy then that's up
to him.
Any victimisation of belle and sebastian fans in the press is due to people
like some of those on this list, who take it too far. Just as a past
generation of kids took manics fandom too far, when they all started carving
4REAL in their arms. If you behave like a dick then your gonna get slapped.
If you genuinely want to wear cardigans and stuff then good luck to you, but
if you're doing it because you want to be *like* belle and sebastian then
snap out of it. They are original, you are just clones. Can't you just enjoy
the music? Its fine to relate to stuff, if you are an indie kid at school
and you dress a bit trampy then the townies are going to pick on you, but
don't intentionally alienate yourselves further just so that you can feel
like a beautiful and unique snowflake, don't gaze at flowers and clouds just
to then think how sensitive you are. And don't go around declaring how twee
you are, because that implies some sort of self-conscious alienation from
society and even Stuart M says its bad to be self-conscious. Twee is fine if
you genuinely are a child and hop-scotch and riding your raleigh chopper up
and down the street is what you do for kicks, even nostalgia for your
childhood is reasonable enough but once you are old enough to fuck (sorry
about the language), and you do fuck (sorry again), then you have to accept
that you have left that part of your life behind, and have no business
calling yourself twee.
Fine skip to the music with limpen wrists at the star and garter, not fine
taking the whole thing too seriously and turning it into some sort of
alternative to having a personality.
I'll get my coat...
