Sinister: it's not as if it's *fun*.. at least not anymore

Hello sini-stars
It appears to be the season of renouncing your lurkerdom and stepping
out into the spotlight of the list so I'm being brave and creeping out,
albeit squinting as I go. Be gentle with me.

Like everyone else, there can be no real 'content', in the narrow b+s
definition, in my post tho i have been listening to 3..6..9 and iyfs a
lot recently. (contraversial proposition: 3..6..9 will be their last
great offering). iyfs, especially fox..., is fantastic to listen to on a
beautiful autumnal day like today - go and dig it out all ye english
sinistars - as are gorky's.

My favourite game of the moment is finding the most and least
appropriate music to walk to college by. So far, b+s are most, and Nut
and Lovin' Spoonful are the least. See, I have to walk through an army
barracks to get to class, whence I am surrounded by barbed wire and
personnel carriers and men with guns, and listening to Daydream by L.S.
whilst doing so is , ahem, ironic to say the least. I also (and this
truly seals my claim to 'most bizarre trip to school': i challenge
anyone to out-do me) have to walk through a field of cows, and listening
to Nut singing "I eat brains; animal, criminal. Books will be written
about me" as i do so absolutely kills me. *Surely* she didn't write
Brains about BSE.

I'd like to think Pam Tait, and anyone else, could feel they can post
about having a bad day or feeling down. I don't think anyone would
begrudge them that, and it's something we can all relate to. I like to
think we're all supportive of each other, and don't act like wider
society in not wanting to listen when someone isn't feeling 100%. Hardly
a staggeringly original view! but i thought pam should be reassured /
encouraged.

The election shenanigans is highly amusing. Sorry all american listees
but, in my household at least, we are having a great time watching the
circus that is the american voting system. How can it be so biased? The
idea that judges who are blatantly aligned to one party can decide how
many of the votes cast are going to be counted is to my eyes ludicrous.
Why not stop when you've counted all the votes? That way, they all get
counted! Does it not violate some constitutional right if you vote and
it isn't counted?

My heart went out to jenowl when i read about her ordeal at school: i
felt really frustrated at the idea that it could happen again and again
and there would be nothing to stop them. I abhor violence any way but
this makes me sick.

END OF LIST RELEVANT TOPICS

We need a new thread i feel, tho i would never be so forward as to
impose my ideas on you all, topics should be organic. The only things i
have any knowledge of are the floods in york, the sexism inherent in our
education system (read Invisible Women by Dale Spender if you've an
afternoon free, it might change your classtimes forever) and Vector
Calculus. If anyone would like a discussion of any of these, mail me! I
can prolly clear up any queries you have over directional derivatives...

Sorry i have not been sufficiently interesting, especially on a day like
today with over ten posts, but i have had a burning desire to post for
about two weeks and i could ignore it no more. I shan't bother you again
for another 6 months i 'spect unless something important happens to me.

love and space rockets,
