This is my first Sinister letter, so welcome everyone. I'm about two weeks
out of the nursery and drowning in lovely tweeness. At least now I've got
something to do in those too-short-yet-too-long uni breaks that go for an
hour.
i like when people use headings...

!!!LIVID!!!
Any Listerines (has that term been used before?) going to livid wanna meet
up? two places you'll definitely see me are Not From There and Yo La Tengo.
Wearing my "the sounds, the sounds, they're beautiful!" texta tee-shirt.
and probably cords.

!!!THE MAGICAL TRAGEDY OF "ELVIS TAPE 1", STARRING PAVEMENT THE MELNIKS AND
ME!!!!
I love tapes; I adore winding them with a pen, I love fixing them when
they're twisted, I love the way they go all wibbly in the middle of yr
favourite song. Here is a story about my favourite tape.
Several years ago, when my first girlfriend Gina came to my house for the
first time, she brought two CDs and a video. The video was Dazed and
Confused, the seedies were Wowee Zowee and the Melniks- "Have you ever
noticed that Gordon from Sesame St looks exactly like Errol from Hot
Chocolate?". I've probably got that title wrong. Anyone who knows the
Melniks, you are cool. Anyone who likes the Melniks, you are truly HIP. So
anyway, when she left i kept the seedies and taped them, on either side of a
tape marked "ELVIS TAPE 1" with white typing on that red tape-gun stuff.
Within a year, Gina was gone and the tape was wibbly. Then one day, the
tape turned inside out, so everything sounded backwards. So I spent an hour
one night winding it all out and putting it back in right. So I listened it
again to reward myself for my hard work, and it reversed once more. Anyway,
this process repeated over about 20 train journeys and long nights. Of
course I couldn't get the seedies off Gina (although I did try) and of
course I couldn't afford to BUY them.
This was all last year. This year I have had several half-hearted
attempts to make ELVIS TAPE 1 straighten up and fly right, but it kept
confusing me, so I'd wind the whole thing thru, to find I had stuffed it and
it was even more backwards (hmm???).
BUT (the end is nigh folks!) last night I did it! I (sort of) fixed it!
If only I could apply myself to unimportant crap like assignments in such a
way! RAH! so i put it in the stereyereo and taped it straight away. Once
Pavement song was completely stuffed, and several Melniks songs backwards,
but still RAH! anyway, in this process, ELVIS TAPE 1 finally DIED a quite
ugly death, all twisted and mangled and rustly-noise-making... but a very
noble death for a tape! yes... and he lives on now, through TEAC 90.
HURRAH!!!!!

sorry.
not sorry.
ben:)
