Sinister: Going Underground

There has been some talk of the underground train thing recently (be it
Metro or Subway or Underground or whatever) and I thought I'd recommend a
fantastic book about the underground. It's called 253 and it's by Geoff
Ryman. It's ACE! It's called 253 because there's 253 passengers on a tube
train (including the driver) and there's a page devoted to each passenger.
And each passenger has 253 words written about them. It's funny and sweet
and ironic and sad and all the other words that people use about good books.
It was originally an online book but I could never find the site that it was
on.

I think that you can tell a lot about a person from their favourite
character in the book. And, in another list type thingy, it's concerned with
coincidences and friendships formed by cute people going up to pther cute
people on public transport and saying "hi". This has never happened to me
and if anyone would like to recify this, I am to be found on the top deck of
the number 54 bus quite often. I am the girl with frizzy hair reading a
book, smoking a cigarette and carrying a nice little grey bag.

But, if you're considering coming to the fair city of Leicester to cheer my
up on a double decker bus, don't. We're all going to die of TB soon.

Love
Madeleine
