Sinister: mutiny on the mounty

dear sinister,

I remember a while ago someone saying something about
this, but senor pinefox was nice enough to comment on
it, reminding me that I wanted to also comment on it:

"There is something to be said about the altered
phenomenology of film since video: ie, the possibility
that viewers concentrated on movies more when they
might not get to see another film again for another 20
years."

this seems plausible, but to what end? I must say that
I am greatly in favor of video/dvd/laserdisc etc.
because my chosen field is film studies, and without
those lovely mediums where we can watch movies over
and over and analyze them to death like the cool
literature kids have gotten to do for a long time with
their "books", film studies wouldn't exist. well, it
might, but it'd be hard to do. I'm sure no one cares.
I'll shut up now.

p.s. you should all go to dublin. it's a keen place
with more vintage clothing stores per square mile than
any other city I've ever been to. plus, it's got the
dublin viking adventure, and really, how can you go
wrong?
